Action Atlantic brings together pain patients, advocates and health care professionals in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. These individuals are familiar with the struggles that chronic pain sufferers deal with and are interested in helping to raise awareness, advocate for improved access to evidence-based medicines and other treatment options, and share information with media and government officials.

So far, our activities this year have included things like:

  • Attended the Canadian Patient Summit, held in Toronto
  • Completed a website refresh
  • Started updating our News page more frequently, as chronic pain becomes a more popular topic in media across Canada
  • Attended Canadian Pain Society annual conference, held in Calgary, and shared an exhibit booth with Action Ontario
  • Designed a new semi-annual newsletter
  • Met with the Deputy Minister of Health in Nova Scotia
  • Met with the Assistant Deputy Minister in New Brunswick
  • Met with the CEO of Health PEI
  • Participated in the National Pain Consumers Advisory meeting, held in Toronto
  • Executed an awareness campaign in July, running ads in 15 newspapers across the region
  • Attended and spoke at the 13th World Congress on Pain, held in Montreal

We are funded by independent grants from organizations such as Pfizer, Purdue Pharma, the QEII Foundation, Merck, the Canadian Pain Coalition, and others.
